Where is that super informative thread that was a ton of information about how to get in Data Science, a background on what Data Scientists do, salary information, etc?

I swear it used to be in the wiki, but someone was asking me about Data Scientist transition from something else and I was going to point them to the wiki, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Am I crazy, or is it just not where I think it is?

I can’t remember what it was titled. “So you want to be a Data Scientist?” / “Everything you need to know about Data Science” - I’d really like to get a link to it as it is a great resource for people to use

Not sure which one, but here are 2 I found:

Oh hey, I recognize that second one. Might be due for an update given the current market.

If you do remake it, might I suggest adding a reference to Data Is Plural to the “what should I do as a project?” heading.

It’s a newsletter that publishers datasets people probably won’t see otherwise, pretty much all of which will be more interesting than housing prices/irises/Titanic(s?), there’s also an archive of all the issues so far and stuff like a random generator if you don’t want to pick yourself. (Not affiliated btw, I just think it’s a cool newsletter).

Oh hello there, love your no BS post. Your language perfectly hammers in the point like a LEGO you step on in the dead of night, with a scream

Actually I think it was indeed the FAQ, but it has been disabled  ah well, I’ll send her the two links you showed since they seemed helpful!

The second one triggered my memory and helped me remember one of the threads I was looking for too (super harsh guide to ML), but that wasn’t it. I appreciate the links!

Glad to be of help.

I also found this, which might be helpful too:

“I created a four-page Data Science Cheatsheet to assist with exam reviews, interview prep, and anything in-between”:

Be careful down there.
I hope all is well up there on the ISS. Thank you.
Oh my goodness, that seems really helpful. I’ll have to keep that for myself as well.

Another user mentioned that they had a PDF of the wiki if you would like to look at it. Many of the contents are still closed by the disabled wiki, so it isn’t all of it, but it does contain a rough layout of what I was searching for. Despite its limitations, it is reasonably thorough.

No problem!

Thanks, I already noticed and saved the PDF lol. It certainly is extensive
