Essentially the heading. In order to secure a position in product data science, I would need to know which US universities are the finest at offering master’s degrees in data science.
Which degree programs in data science are the best for aspiring finance and product data scientists?
My Carnegie Mellon master’s degree has been quite beneficial in terms of the knowledge I’ve gained and career prospects. Having said that, I don’t believe any program can promise you will succeed in that, at least not right away. There are way too many additional factors: background, soft skills, macroeconomics, requiring sponsorship, did you genuinely understand the content or just copy from your pals, etc.
I’m not sure. However, I get a ton of applications from IITs and different American MS candidates. With the exception of the guy I hired who attended Georgia Tech, they’re all mediocre. So, I assume, go to Georgia Tech. Additionally, I’ve conducted interviews with awful Georgia Tech prospects. I dunno, just work it out and submit it.
A STEM master’s degree in statistics or a research-focused degree would be far more desirable to me than a DS master’s.
I would think a research heavy degree would be a better option for a research heavy role. Theres lots of folks who could do well in a more business facing data scientist role.
Data science is research… if youre not researching, then its not a real ds role, its either de, da or ba
“Research” colloquially sure, but data science work in a business is way different than wet lab research.
Can you give some examples?
