Given the current state of data science and the increasing demand for specialized positions, what specializations would be worthwhile to pursue?
Would you advise pursuing an operations research master’s degree? Does a master’s degree in statistics with a focus on data science still make sense?
@Reggie Could you send me any sources where I can find out more about supply chain ds?
When I was exploring data science specializations a few years ago, I focused on areas that showed growing demand and future potential. AI and machine learning were clearly on the rise, with many industries investing heavily in these technologies for automation and advanced analytics. Supply chain analytics also became increasingly critical, especially as companies sought to optimize logistics and manage disruptions. Operations Research (OR) and ex-ML roles, while valuable, were somewhat more niche compared to the broader appeal of AI and supply chain. Based on my experience and current trends, pursuing specializations in AI or supply chain analytics would be especially worthwhile, as they offer expansive opportunities and are expected to be in high demand for the foreseeable future.
