No, I have not read any. However, I once began a job application with something like this (not exactly verbatim): “Hello, my name is Zzz, and even though I am qualified for this position from the apparel you use to the way your business operates, I doubt you’ll even read this.” This was after I had applied to numerous jobs for which I was qualified and I was growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of responses. My experience has shown that a cover letter that begins with three to four phrases that state
“Hello, my name is ___. I studied ___, and because of my prior job where we performed x, y, and z (things relevant to the posting), I would love to be considered for the position ___.”
According to what you’ve described, I’ve done the following:
(List your experiences that closely relate to the job description, such as programming languages, tools you’ve used, or soft skills like “stakeholder management.” It’s not really appropriate to use terms like “communication” or “teamwork” here.
