How do you land your first internship as a data scientist?

Hello!

I had never done real “work” before. I am not even sure if I have the skills necessary to influence any business. It seems like getting your first internship comes with such a high entry barrier.

How can I make it land?

Generally, the simplest way to break into the field at the entry level is to work as a data analyst and eventually advance into a data science position, unless you have a PhD or a research-based master’s degree.

After gaining the experience, you can use it to earn a title.

You should start by building a portfolio with personal projects or Kaggle competitions, and start networking on LinkedIn or at meetups. Tailor your resume to highlight relevant skills, apply to lots of internships, and keep learning new things.

Have a strong resume, relatively for a starter. Keep applying in multiple places. Don’t give up
