Are there careers specializing in data visualization and interpretation?

I’m currently employed as a data analyst and contemplating my career direction. While I don’t believe I possess the quantitative skills required to succeed as a data scientist, I am deeply intrigued by data visualization. With a background in design, I find this aspect of the field enjoyable and engaging. My main concern is whether there are sufficient opportunities available in this specific area of work.

I haven’t come across many such roles, but the position of Data Visualization Engineer is certainly real and quite fascinating. There are also roles sometimes known as analytics engineers, who specialize in developing tools that enable business users to interact with data, blending data access with visualization capabilities.

I’ve encountered Data Science positions that focus on visualization.

Another field that heavily utilizes visualization is GIS (Geographic Information Systems), so exploring opportunities in that area might be beneficial.

You could work as a Psephologist for an opinion polls company. It is really a lucrative field as many actors can hire you. For example, campaign teams, news channels… Do you get where I am heading to?

Interesting career, I have just heard about it today. Is the course offered in any of the American universities?

Yes, these roles do exist. My job is supposed to be one of them, but my company is small and I enjoy coding, so I end up doing a lot more machine learning and analyst work. You see these roles often in the media, and big companies, especially those with specialized data teams, have them too. For example, in retail, data teams support store managers.
