Hey everyone, I’m kinda on the fence about job fairs. I mean, I’ve been to a couple in the past and handed out a bunch of resumes, but never really got any calls back. It’s like, is it even worth the time and effort? Has anyone actually landed a job through a job fair?
I think it really just depends on luck. Sometimes you’re as lucky as I am to get a job through the job fairs. I have to admit that my current role was obtained via an engineering career fair. What I did was walk to all the booths especially the less known ones, avoiding the big brands like Amazon and Nike that had several people waiting in line to talk to them. This company I work for asked for my resume, and after two days, they sent me an invite to an interview.
This is quite encouraging. I think I’ll take your advice on attending job fairs. Also, I personally think despite few successes in job acquisitions through job fairs, several companies wouldn’t be participating in job fairs if they didn’t find them to be an effective way to hire new employees.
